- YogaA physical, mental and spiritual practice, Yoga is a Vedic tradition of India and the Himalayas dating more than 2,500 years. Classes are generally 1 - 1 ½ hrs in duration and incorporate physical postures and movement (asanas), breath exercises (pranayama), relaxation and concentration, philosophy, and meditation. Yoga benefits the physical and mental body by enhancing flexibility, improving muscle strength and tone, increasing body awareness, and promoting relaxation and calm.
- PilatesPilates is a physical fitness system that was developed in the early 20th century to strengthen, stretch and stabilise key muscles. Pilates instructors encourage their clients to use correct alignment, centring, concentration, control, precision, breathing and flowing movement to build strength, flexibility and lean muscle tone. The emphasis in Pilates is on lengthening the body and aligning the spine, rather than on bulking and shortening the muscles. Pilates either takes place on a mat, with a barre, or with the use of a reformer -- a machine that provides resistance to lift against. Practitioners believe that mental and physical health are essential to one another and use this method of total body conditioning to achieve this balance.
- Prenatal/Postnatal YogaPre and postpartum women experience a variety of emotional and physiological changes before, during and after birth. Prenatal and postnatal yoga addresses these changes by adapting traditional yoga classes to suit their unique needs. Prenatal and postnatal yoga can provide many benefits during pregnancy, as well as improve labour and birth outcomes and postpartum recovery. Classes are generally 60 - 90 minutes in duration and incorporate breathing, gentle asanas, stretching and mindfulness.
- Spinal Flow® TechniqueThe Spinal Flow® Technique, developed by Dr Carli Axford, is a healing approach rooted in spine and nervous system philosophy. Practitioners learn the spine's 7 gateways and assess its 33 vertebrae for blockages caused by chemical, physical, or emotional stress. Through light palpation, they initiate the Spinal Wave™, relieving pain and dis-ease by connecting the nervous system to the brain and integrating experiences. This certification program teaches powerful communication and effective contact with spinal access points, facilitating the flow of the Spinal Wave from the coccyx to the cranium. By tapping into the body's innate potential, the technique enhances well-being and transforms the way stress is processed, promoting holistic healing.
- Reiki IIReiki is a hands-on energy healing method developed by Mikao Usui in 1922. What sets it apart is the attunements passed from Teacher/Master to student, opening up their energy fields. Reiki involves transferring universal life force energy from practitioner to client, with hands placed on or above specific body locations. Symbols are used with different intentions, visualized or drawn. Reiki can be done in person or through distant healing, lasting 60-90 minutes. It aids in pain relief, healing, relaxation, and balancing chakras and aura energy. Clients remain clothed on a massage table during sessions.
- Personal TrainingPersonal Trainers assist their clients in achieving health and fitness goals by providing general nutrition advice (within their scope of practice) and tailored fitness programs which may include flexibility, resistance and cardiovascular exercises. Personal Trainers are qualified to teach clients one-on-one or instruct group fitness classes in a variety of settings which can include gyms, outdoors, community centres, the client or trainer’s home, or a private business. Personal Trainers are not qualified to give medical or physical therapy advice, provide detailed meal plans, manual therapy, or counselling.
- Corrective ExercisesCorrective Exercises provides musculo-skeletal healthcare practitioners with exercises to correct faulty movement patterns and imbalances. These exercises are to optimize the activation of specific muscles that have been identified as deficient by manual muscle testing or active motion. The aim of the exercises is to perform all joint motions in a manner consistent with the kinesiology of the joint, intra-limb motions, inter-limb motions as well as total body motions. The exercises should be selected based on observations of movement patterns and tests of muscle performance which include length, strength, stiffness and activation factors.
