About

Aloha I'm Neikah

I've been working with the body, health and wellbeing for more than 30 years, and after all this time I'm still fascinated by what becomes possible when we slow down and really listen to the body.

I began my training in the early 1990s, studying remedial therapies, massage, nutrition and complementary health. Over the years, my work has taken me through private practice, practitioner education and luxury spa environments. Ka Huna has been part of my practice for more than two decades, with Heartworks Lomi Lomi becoming an important part of my work in more recent years.

The way I work and teach today has been shaped by all of it.

I don't believe that one approach suits every person. I draw on decades of experience to respond to the individual, rather than asking the individual to fit the technique. I take time to understand what has brought you to the session, how you're feeling and what your body is telling us on the day.

Your session might be flowing and dynamic, slow and deeply settling, or somewhere in between. What matters to me is that you feel comfortable, respected and able to let go of having to do anything for a while.

For me, good bodywork is as much about listening as it is about technique.

Alongside my practice, I've spent many years teaching, mentoring and supporting others in their development as bodywork practitioners. My years of practice have shaped the way I teach, just as teaching has continued to deepen the way I practise.

As the founder of One Ohana Academy, I bring this experience into practitioner education, where technical skill, embodied understanding and genuine human connection are equally valued.

Whether I'm working with someone on the table or guiding someone learning the craft, my approach is grounded in safety, presence, connection and care.

Approved Modalities
  • Kahuna Bodywork
Kahuna Bodywork is a Hawaiian modality which incorporates Kahuna principles and combines martial arts, traditional Hawaiian massage (Lomi Lomi) and Hula. It is flowing and dynamic massage-like therapy requiring the practitioner to find and direct energy, bringing this together with intelligences available through their own ancestry. With the aid of posture, leverage and motion, the practitioner is able to perform the bodywork according to the script of the client’s body, thereby facilitating their healing and allowing clients to regain balance and awareness. Kahuna Bodywork also opens pathways for both practitioner and client to unexplored physical, emotional and/or spiritual areas within themselves. It works as a dynamic re-patterning process whereby the rhythmical application of the massage-like strokes allow clients' body-mind-spirit systems to reorganise themselves into a more helpful pattern on a cellular level. Apart from the possible therapeutic effect, the major benefit of Kahuna Bodywork lies in clients' becoming more in touch with their own bodies, and in deeper alignment on emotional, mental and spiritual levels.

  • Lomi Lomi Massage
Lomi Lomi is a traditional Hawaiian whole-body massage, also known as ‘prayerful healing.’ Therapists use a combination of breathing and long sweeping strokes using their hands, forearms, elbows, fingers, knees and stones. Unlike other forms of massage, traditional Lomi Lomi sessions begin with preparation in the form of meditation, prayer and breathing exercises. The overall aim is to open energetic pathways and eliminate the source of physical and mental ailments. Lomi Lomi can also assist with lowering blood pressure and improving circulation, flexibility and immune response.

  • Kahuna Massage
Originating in Hawaii, Kahuna Massage is a holistic bodywork that was traditionally passed from teacher (Kahuna) to student through an apprenticeship. The practice is based on the philosophy that all things seek harmony and love, including the body. At the beginning and close of a session, practitioners offer pules (prayers) to create a sacred space. Throughout the session, they focus solely on the recipient and offer compassion, love and respect in the pure spirit of “aloha.” Sessions may also incorporate breathwork and a brief discussion to discover what physical or emotional reason brought the client to seek treatment. As they move rhythmically around the table, mimicking “hula” style movements, practitioners use their hands, elbows, fingers, forearms and copious amounts of oil to deliver long, flowing strokes along the entirety of the body. These movements and the transference of mana (life energy) stimulate meridians and energy centres helping to free energetic blockages, stimulate circulation and induce a state of stillness.
