- Somatic TherapySomatic therapy, also known as somatic psychotherapy, is a form of therapy that focuses on the mind-body connection. It recognizes that emotional and psychological stress can have physical effects on the body, and vice versa. Somatic therapy integrates traditional talk therapy with somatic practices such as mindfulness, breathing exercises, movement, touch and body awareness, helping clients work through emotional and physical challenges through body awareness. It is often used to treat trauma, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, and other mental health conditions. Somatic therapists work collaboratively with clients to explore the mind-body connection and promote healing.
- Sexological BodyworkSexological Bodywork is an educational and therapeutic approach that combines somatic (body-based) methods, coaching, and counselling to support individuals in developing healthier relationships with their bodies, sexuality, and intimacy. Practitioners use touch, breathwork, and communication techniques to address issues such as sexual dysfunction, body shame, and trauma. With a focus on consent and client empowerment, Sexological Bodywork aims to enhance self-awareness, pleasure, and communication skills, promoting a more fulfilling and informed sexual experience. This modality encourages clients to explore their desires, boundaries, and emotional well-being within a safe and respectful environment. Due to the sexual nature of Sexological Bodywork, this therapeutic approach may be considered sex work and therefore illegal in certain countries, states, or provinces (e.g., the United States). Practitioners are responsible for being aware of and complying with the laws applicable to their practice location. Practitioners must adhere to the Sexological Bodywork® Code of Ethics and comply with any requirements set by their professional membership body or association.
