The Deep Interior - Somatic Therapy
About

Welcome, my name is Simon. I am currently training in Somatic Experiencing® and have over 20 years experience as a yoga, meditation and breathwork teacher. I offer 1 to 1 Somatic Therapy sessions and group work on-line or in-person. My approach is simple and gentle, and is guided by you.

If you are new to Somatic therapy, it is based on the understanding that our bodies hold valuable information about how we respond to life experiences and the way stress impacts us. It is a gentle, body based (bottom up) therapy where you stay in the drivers seat and explore how your nervous system has adapted to keeping you safe. It helps you understand what your nervous system needs to regulate, bringing emotional awareness, and a deeper connection to your body and your life's work.

Every session is unique and guided by you and what is present. You don't need to have any previous experience or understanding of Somatic Therapy, just a willingness to explore the curiosity you have. We work at a pace that feels supportive, helping you build resilience, increase self-awareness, and reconnect with your natural capacity for healing.

People come to me for support with anxiety, stress, psychedelic integration, emotional overwhelm, or simply because they want to feel more connected to themselves. I'd be honoured to support you.

Approved Modalities
  • Yoga
A physical, mental and spiritual practice, Yoga is a Vedic tradition of India and the Himalayas dating more than 2,500 years. Classes are generally 1 - 1 ½ hrs in duration and incorporate physical postures and movement (asanas), breath exercises (pranayama), relaxation and concentration, philosophy, and meditation. Yoga benefits the physical and mental body by enhancing flexibility, improving muscle strength and tone, increasing body awareness, and promoting relaxation and calm.
  • Breathwork
Breathwork is a therapeutic practice that focuses on conscious control and manipulation of one's breathing patterns to achieve physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing. It involves various techniques, such as deep diaphragmatic breathing, rhythmic patterns, and breath awareness. By altering the way one breathes, breathwork can help reduce stress, improve relaxation, and enhance self-awareness. It is used for purposes like managing anxiety, releasing emotional blockages, and promoting mindfulness. Breathwork is a versatile and accessible tool that empowers individuals to harness the profound connection between their breath and their overall health, offering a path to greater inner peace and vitality.
  • Somatic Experiencing®
    student
The Somatic Experiencing® method is a body-oriented approach to the healing of trauma and other stress disorders. It is the life’s work of Peter A. Levine, PhD, resulting from his multidisciplinary study of stress physiology, ethology, biology, neuroscience, psychology, and indigenous healing practices, together with over 50 years of successful clinical application. The SE™ approach releases traumatic shock and restores connection, which is key to transforming PTSD and the wounds of emotional and early developmental attachment trauma. SE offers a framework to assess where a person is “stuck” in the fight, flight, or freeze responses and provides clinical tools to resolve these fixated physiological states. It provides effective skills appropriate to a variety of healing professions including mental health, medicine, physical and occupational therapies, bodywork, addiction treatment, first responses, education, and others.
